Keep Your Sodium Intake Low – Most Americans consume far too much sodium. When your sodium intake is too high your body will hold onto water, causing you too bloat up like a balloon. Make sure choose fresh ingredients over packed or processed ones. A fresh piece of turkey will have much less sodium than packaged turkey lunch meat, the same goes for fresh veggies over canned. Also be careful when dining out, many restaurants use a lot more salt than you would at home. Ask your serve to have the chef hold off on the salt when preparing your meal.
Get Moving! – Regular exercise helps get ALL sorts of things moving through your body to help de-bloat and rid the body of toxins. Increasing your heart rate and breathing will also increase natural contractions in the intestines to help expel build up and speed up digestion. Check out our Workouts for all sorts of different workouts to get you heart pumping!
Cut Back on Carbs – Now we don’t meat to total eliminate carbs, but be careful about the carbs you eat. But as a general rule, keep you carbs healthy day-to-day by eating complex carbs like potatoes, sweet potatoes, ezekiel breads and wraps, instead of high carb, and less nutrient-rich sources like pastas, bagels, and pretzels. If you are looking for a QUICK SLIM DOWN before a weekend at the beach, cut out heavy carbs for only 3 days and instead get your carbs from only vegetables and fruit. A few days without high carb foods will de-bloat you in no time making you look HOT in that bikini! 😉 Try our Tropical Shrimp Salad for the perfect low-carb meal!
CHUG, CHUG, CHUG! – Water flushes out your system, which actually HELPS to rid your body of any water it’s retaining. If your body is not getting adequate amounts of water, it will hold onto it and cause bloating. When your body gets enough water it expels it and flushes it out along with bloat causing toxins. You should aim to get AT LEAST half of your body weight in ounces of water per day – more if you exercise!
Our favorite way to get more water is to flavor it! Check out our Bloat Blasting Cocktail to slim down your silhouette.
