As you may or may not know, I have been traveling 24 days out of the last month, and I am FINALLY (almost) back on track!! PHEW!!
It’s been a great little break with all the traveling with a weekend trip to Chicago with Nik and some friends, a week in Newport, RI with my family, and finally a trip to the IDEA World Convention and Blogfest in Los Angeles!
With all this traveling, my workouts have been a little bit different than normal. But just because my workout schedule was a little sporadic, doesn’t mean that I didn’t stay very active and on track during my adventures!
I did TONS of my favorite thinks such as kayaking, running, hiking, and EATING!!
In Chicago we walked (and ran!) ALL over the place including walking the pups all over Grant and Millennium Park, and ran along the path by the lake. SO beautiful!
In CT, before heading to Newport, I spent a good 5 hours kayaking around a small little lake with my mama and her bf. We brought a whole bunch of snacks and some mini bottles of prosecco to “celebrate” the beginning of vacation!
p.s. Please don’t mind Nik’s SERIOUS farmer’s tan…
In LA, Nik and I hiked a couple of times. We first hiked the Hollywood Hills (I know it’s touristy, but I’ve wanted to do it since my first visit there!), and we hiked the Santa Monica Mountains, which I absolutely LOVED!! And of course on our treks we took some of our favorite snacks with us! (Unfortunately no pictures of the hikes, as a certain small puppy decided to chew up my camera strap before I left!)
So with all these amazing adventures I’ve been on, I decided to team up with Blue Diamond Almonds to give you a few ideas for snacks to help you Flavor your Adventure!
Below is a list of some of my favorite snacks a necessities to get through an adventure filled day.
Beach Bum Snacks to Flavor Your Adventure
Almonds – By now I’m sure you know of my love for all things almonds…so naturally they are the top of my list! I love natural raw almonds, but when I have a little craving for something sweet or salty I grab some flavored one from Blue Diamond. I’m still seriously obsessed with their Sriracha Almonds (used in this mason jar salad) and another new found love is their Sea Salt Dark Chocolate ones!! They are perfect for a chocolate craving!
Fresh Summer Berries – Fresh berries go perfectly with almonds, and even better…the dark chocolate ones with berries is ahhh-mazing! I love putting a big handful of berries in a tupperware container and taking them with me wherever I go. So convenient!
Dried Fruit – I have been seriously OBSESSED with dried pineapple lately! It’s literally like candy for me. I think I’ve gone through at least 5 packs this month. You can find them at Trader Joe’s unsweetened, and they are to die for! You could even make your own trail mix buy combining some almonds (any flavor!) with some of your favorite dried fruits!
Apples, Almond Butter, and Dark Chocolate Chips – As you know I LOVE my almond butter, so naturally it is one of my favorite snacks when out and about! I love having it with some fresh apple slices and a few pieces of dark chocolate (just be sure to keep your chocolate cold so that it doesn’t melt in the hot sun! 😉 )
Collard Green Wraps – Collard green wraps are bomb dot com. I started making these a few months ago and LOVE how easy they are. The great thing is that they are low carb, so no bloating in your bikini! I like making a healthy version of tuna salad or chicken salad and pack it up with some veggies for a filling lunch. SO GOOD! If you sign up for my newsletter you’ll to get a Raw Veggie Collard Green Wrap Recipe AND 3 other exclusive recipes, PLUS tips for a bikini body, and a total body workout!
Mango Shrimp Summer Rolls – Last month, I posted this recipe and I knew it would be one of my summertime favorites! It’s so convenient for a protein packed lunch and it’s so refreshing and crisp on a hot beach day. These cute little Mango Shrimp Summer Rolls are perfect to prepare ahead of time and wrap up in some saran wrap!
Edamame – This is one of my favorite snacks! Edamame is filled with protein and healthy fats to keep you feeling satisfied for hours! I could eat a whole pack in one sitting! I like getting thenm from Whole Foods in a microwaveable steaming-bag for convenience.
Hummus & Veggies – Always a stable of mine is fresh and crispy veggies with hummus! I love any flavor of hummus and just munch all day on fresh veggies like mini-peppers, baby carrots, snap peas, or other veggies I slice up during my weekly meal prep. So easy and so refreshing during the summer months!
