This series is going to be my Fit Girl Diaries, where I will document my travels, fun outings and events, and anything else that may pop into my head!
As summer is drawing to an end, I wanted to document a little bit of a “day in the life” during my summer here in Minneapolis, before starting full swing this fall. For most of us, fall is the time of new beginnings, and the same will be true for me! I have so many plans for building up the blog and making it better than ever this fall and as we head into the holidays!
Anyways, here we go into my Fit Girl Diaries,
Most days of the week I start with a run, usually around 4 miles, from my house and around the Mississippi River and back. I usually run over the Stone Arch Bridge near the Mill City Ruins, an awesome old park that was once the grain mills in the city.
It’s so peaceful running along the water, especially during the week when there are less people out and about… running along the bridge helps clear my head so that I can focus on the day ahead of me.
Every week is usually the same as far as work, Mondays I work on recipe development for both the blog and some of my freelance projects, Tuesdays I create workouts for YOU 😃, Wednesdays I usually work on writing freelance articles, Thursdays are usually more administrative…emails, phone calls, invoicing…the not so fun stuff, but it’s all good because Fridays are for FUN!
Our favorite thing we do every Friday is either go kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding at Lake Harriet. If you live in the area, you can buy a season pass for $10 a year, and get 50% off your kayak and SUP rentals! After the discount it comes out to only $6.50 for a hour of kayaking! #WINNING So we’ve been going every week — Nik promises me that we will buy kayaks after our next move…probably early next year!
So, of course, the time that I actually decide to bring my phone out in the kayak to get pictures we get caught in a tornado! Ok, not really, but we could barely paddle 50 feet before getting blown backwards, and having to start over! Haha! But it was still tons of fun! 🙂
And here is my better half…in all of his glory…
After we spend the afternoon out on the water, we usually go out and run some errands so that it doesn’t take up our entire weekend. This past week we had to make a stop at Walmart. Nik works for the company that makes Lysol, so he does “store checks” and checks on all of the products they sell. So, while he’s off doing his “research”, I was able to leisurely walk around and shop for some essentials.
I was able to pick up a few new props for the blog and recipe creation — I’m super excited about that mini ice cream dish…or whatever it it! LOL But mostly I just stocked up some much needed beauty items. As you may know, I love Burt’s Bees just about anything, so I wanted to try their Super Shiny Shampoo and Conditioner. I am also loving this Beach Babe texturizing sea salt hairspray. It’s amazing and perfect for sexy beachy waves. (I’m even giving some away in my Instagram Giveaway…find all the details HERE!)
I also needed to restock on some disposable razors, so I grabbed some Schick Quattro for Women disposable razors. Even though summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean we ladies can have stubbly legs! 😉 As a fit girl we want to feel confidant and beautiful year round, so it’s important to keep those legs silky smooth so that we feel our best! (I’m putting together a Beauty Must-Haves for you that will be up later this week — so keep an eye out for that!)
After our Walmart excursion, we stopped and got a bit of grocery shopping done at Trader Joe’s. We live much closer to Whole Foods, so we only make it out to Trader Joe’s about once a month…but I love TJ’s, they have such great prices on so many of my favorites! The last few times they have been out of my absolute favorite sweet treat…unsweetened dried pineapple, so I was so happy they were in stock I bought 4 bags!😳 #SorryNotSorry
What’s in my Basket
- Frozen Green Beans
- Unsweetened Dried Pineapple
- Apple & Coconut Fruit Bars (so tasty!)
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Sweet Thai Chili Sauce (so good for sweet & sour meatballs!)
- Coconut Sugar
- Applegate Naturals Sliced Roasted Turkey Breast
- Roma Tomatoes
So after we run around a bit with our errands we usually go home and enjoy a quiet Friday night. Saturdays we always get together with friends, and usually get end the week with a bang! 😉
What’s your summer been like? Any fun things worth mentioning?
