Ok, so it’s FINALLY time for a little update on our California move!
Honestly, I can’t believe that it’s already been 6 weeks since we’ve moved here — life has been a complete whirlwind! And, in a good way!
First of all, the weather is just absolutely amazing! I have been LOVING my morning runs and bike rides on the beach. We live right near the Marina del Rey bike path and I just love how convenient it is to just hop on the bike path and get my morning cardio in.
Nik and I have been doing long morning bike rides on the weekends, ending at our favorite coffee shop, Intelligentsia on Abbot Kinney. Sometimes we even get a little treat at Blue Star Donuts — you KNOW how I love the occasional donut!
We also love to take the dogs hiking on the weekends, mostly to Temescal Canyon, but we can’t wait to explore more and get to some places in Malibu like Escondido Falls or Solstice Canyon, or go down to Palace Verdes. Let me know in the comments below if there are any “must-do” hikes that you love! I’d love to get some ideas!
Of course, I’ve also been testing out some local studios – I’ve been loving the Yoga Nest in Venice. They have great vinyasa classes that aren’t fancy or hot or anything. Perfect for when you just need to unwind and get a good flow in!
I also took some boxing, TRX, and Pilates classes at Studio U in Venice — really awesome studio and they have such unique offerings of classes.
I also recently signed up for ClassPass, so expect some reviews of local studio in the near future!
AND big announcement — I am now an ambassador for BeachFit.LA a local company similar to class pas, only with all beach related activities — think stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and surfing!! Can’t wait to share those adventures with you soon too!
And then some days I just take the pups out for a nice long walk. As long as we get out nice an early we can walk on the beach before the patrol guys come out and kick the dogs off the beach! 😉
But overall, I am just loving how much more active I can be daily. I haven’t had a car in over two years (I got rid of it when we moved to NYC), so being able to walk or ride my bike everywhere has been so nice!
I had mentioned a few posts back that I would be working with a photographer and doing more freelance work. So I just began working with my new photographer — Olivia Bush — and LOVE her! I can’t wait to get more shoots in with her!
I’ve also been searching for a videographer for the YouTube Channel, but my last contact didn’t quite pan out — so if you know anyone in the Venice area that does awesome video (especially outside!) let me know! 😉
My freelance work with Paleohacks has picked up a bit as well, and I am starting to do videoshoots with them for their YouTube channel. We are doing amazing (and delicious!) recipe shoots and some awesome workouts — all coming out soon! So keep a lookout on my Facebook page for that!
One thing I have discovered and have been LOVING since I moved here was Naked Cold Pressed Juice. You ladies know I am a huge advocate for drinking fresh made juice for a boost of vitamins every morning. Well Naked Pressed was a life saver for the two weeks I was sitting around waiting for our movers to deliver all of our goods.
Naked Pressed is also PERFECT for when I’m in a rush in the morning, going from running, to recipe creating, to meetings or shoots, and everything in between. Once I get back to teaching group exercise again, I know I will be stocking up on these for before early morning classes.
What I love so much about Naked Pressed is that they have no added sugar or preservatives and are verified Non GMO. Each juice is made with high quality fruits and vegetables that are cold-pressed right into the bottle. The juices are shipped immediately to ensure only the highest-quality, best-tasting juice hits the shelf every time. So unlike a lot of other “juice” brands out there Naked Cold Pressed Juices are purely just fruit and veggie juice. YUM!
For now Naked Pressed is only available on the West Coast — but they are preparing for a launch nationwide soon, so get excited juice lovers! 😉
p.s. The “Cool Pineapple” flavor is ahhhhh-mazing!! Make sure you try that one!
I’ll be sure to give another update soon on some more happenings and local finds — Meghan is coming to visit next week so we are about to have a whole lot of fun surfing, exploring, and eating about LA.
If you have any suggestions or must-do’s let me know in the comments!!
