I think it goes without saying that I LOVE yoga. But even a vinyasa can work up a serious sweat…and sometimes our mats could use a little TLC — not to mention a little deodorizing!
There is nothing worse than going through a flow, inhaling deeply, and getting a big ol’ whiff of stinky feet.
I’ll admit, I am guilty of just rolling up my mat at the end of a good vinyasa, but every week or so I give it a good cleaning at home and let it air out.
This simple spray is filled with some of my favorite beauty and cleaning products and not only disinfects and deodorizes your mat, but also helps to prevent little nasties from sticking to it.
Every ingredient in this spray has germ-fighting properties and will leave your mat smelling so fresh and so clean.
Tea Tree essential oil has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties to help fight germs and prevent them from sticking to your mat.
Eucalyptus essential oil is also anti-bacterial and great for deodorizing. Not to mention, it’s stimulating scent will give your a breath of fresh air in your next yoga session.
Castile soap is a gentle non-toxic cleanser that will help to remove any nasties hidden in your mat’s porous surface. You don’t need very much at all, just a few drops — but it gives this spray some extra cleaning power. I like using peppermint or lavender in this spray!
Witch hazel is also a gentle cleanser your mat and gives even more anti-bacterial fighting power to your spray.
Once you make this spray, just throw it in your gym bag and give your mat a little spritz after your yoga flow, and you’re good to go! 😉
