Healthy Homemade Pita Chips

  • Total Time: 10

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pieces pita bread
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cut each pita into 8 wedges.
  3. *Optional – I like to tear each wedge in half at the seam of the pita to create thinner chips.
  4. Arrange pita wedges on a baking sheet, making sure not to overlap.
  5. Using a basting brush, lightly brush each wedge with olive oil. Season lightly with sea salt.
  6. Bake for 5-10 minutes, or until golden brown. (If you halve each wedge, check at 5 minutes.)

  1. These were DELICIOUS! So fast & easy! I’ve always wanted to make pita chips but this was the 1st time. I served them with a lightened, healthier spinach dip & lots of veggies. I used whole wheat pita, only a mist of canola spray & no salt (since the dip had plenty & the bread already has salt & fat)…& it was totally flavorful with great texture (I’m suspecting I could even get away without without the spray if I really wanted to). They were perfect, instructions were great, thanks!

    1. Thanks Suzanne! They are SO tasty! I haven’t tried without oil but I’m sure you could. I think the oil just helps brown them a little and make the salt stick (if you’re using salt). Let me know if you try it without oil, I’d love to know how it works!
