Blackberry Kombucha Cocktail

Well Fit Girls, this weekend is Labor Day weekend and that means there will be lots of celebrating and parties — which of course means that you need a healthy cocktail to help you stay on track this weekend.

So I want to introduce you to one of my favorite little tricks to stay on track while still enjoying time with friends and family — my Kombucha Mojito!

Yes, you heard that correct — a probiotic cocktail!

Now if you’ve been following me on Snapchat at all you may have seen me showing off my absolute favorite little sips — and TheBu Kombucha in Tropical makes quite a regular appearance. So it’s only natural that I found a way to add it into my cocktails!

So first let’s talk a little about kombucha because I know it’s still pretty knew to some of you.

But really, kombucha actually isn’t new at all — it’s actually been around for a long time and is a traditional Chinese fermented drink made of black tea and sugar. It contains a variety of vitamins, minerals and enzymes and has tons of health-promoting properties.

Kombucha is a sweetened tea that is fermented with bacteria and yeast (the GOOD kind — like the kind you find in yogurt!) In the fermentation process the good bacteria consumes over 90% of the sugar, resulting in a low-sugar finished product.

You can find kombucha at any local health food store, Whole Foods, and even some gas stations now!

Reasons to  Kombucha

Improved Digestion – Kombucha is filled with probiotics, enzymes, and acids that help keep your gut happy and balanced. The stomach must be at the proper pH balance to function properly, and kombucha helps to balance your stomach’s pH levels, which will improve digestion.
Weight Loss – The first step to reaching your desired weight is to have a happy and healthy stomach — so making sure your gut is healthy and at a neutral pH is a major key to boosting your metabolism. 
Detoxification – Kombucha contains a powerful detoxifier, glucuronic acid, which binds to toxins entering the liver and eliminates them out through the kidneys. This helps keeps the liver healthy, which it the organ responsible for detoxing the body.
Immune Support – Kombucha is rich in antioxidants that help strengthen the immune system and boosts the energy levels of the body. The anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties of kombucha can help fight some bacterial and viral infections.

So, since alcohol has it’s downsides, why not try to make it a little healthier by making a tasty cocktail with kombucha to try to balance all that out??

After all the Fit Girl lifestyle is all about balance right??

Like I said my favorite kombucha is TheBu Kombucha in Tropical — but you could make this with almost any kombucha you’d like. There are some amazing raspberry flavors out there — and really amazing lemon or ginger flavors too!

Kombucha is naturally carbonated in the fermentation process, so it’s perfectly fizzy for some seriously awesome cocktails.

Feel free to experiment with your berries and herbs too! The possibilities are endless when making a kombucha cocktail!

Blackberry Kombucha Mojito

  • Total Time: 5


  • 1/4 cup blackberries
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
  • 23 springs mint
  • 1 1/2 ounce light rum
  • juice from 1 lime
  • 1 cup kombucha (I used TheBu Kombucha Tropical flavor)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • cocktail shaker & muddle stick


  1. In a cocktail shaker or mason jar, add blackberries, honey, mint and lime juice, and muddle together until the blackberries are crushed.
  2. Pour in the kombucha and ice, and shake to combine.
  3. Pour the cocktail into a glass and top with a lime wedge.
