Crispy Sweet Potato Fries

Crispy Sweet Potato Fries
Who doesn’t like sweet potato fries?

They are the most addicting thing I can think of. They are crispy, they are savory, and my personal favorite is when they are just a bit spicy to balance out their natural sweetness.

I LOVE ordering sweet potato fries when I go out, unfortunately, many times they are also loaded with tons of fat, or worse, if you get the frozen ones in the bag…they are loaded with preservatives and colorants. BLAH!!

So I love making my own at home so that I can enjoy these guilt free with a turkey burger or even with just some simple salmon! I especially love having these sweet potato fries with some spicy cajun dip to make it feel like an extra savory dish!

They biggest challenge I have noticed when trying to make sweet potato fries at home is that it is hard to get them CRISPY — like you get at restaurants. The solution is simple though…SOAK THEM IN WATER!

Yup! Just soak them for about 45 minutes before baking to remove some of the starches. Pat them dry really well (even let them sit out for a few minutes), toss them with some olive oil and spices, and stick ’em in the oven.

When they come out…perfectly crispy sweet potato fries!

I actually like to prep a BIG batch of these. I cut ’em, soak ’em, dry ’em, spice ’em, and instead of cooking them, I put them on a cookie sheet and FREEZE ‘EM! They come out great when you cook them from frozen AND I like to always have these on hand for when I get a craving or if we need a quick side dish!

Just freeze them in a single layer on a cookie sheet and once they’re frozen, put them in a big ziplock bag and into the freezer they go. Now you’ll never be tempted to grab a frozen bag of sweet potato fries again! πŸ˜‰
