How to Cook {and FREEZE} Brown Rice!

  • Total Time: 1 hour


  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups brown rice
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt or sea salt


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and bring the water to a boil.
  2. Place the rice into an 8-inch square glass baking dish and mix in the olive oil and salt to coat the rice.
  3. Once the water boils, pour it over the rice and stir to combine.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork.


To freeze & reheat

  • Once cooked, scoop 1/2 cup to 1 cup of rice into and air tight container and freeze.
  • To reheat, place the frozen rice in the microwave and cook 1-2 minutes, or until warmed through. Fluff with a fork and serve!
