Skinny BBQ Chicken “Wings”
Last year I volunteered to bring the buffalo chicken to the Big Game…I swear I tried to be healthy about it…but I eventually gave in to bringing wings.
Don’t get me wrong I was still able to make some somewhat Skinny Buffalo Wings, but I tried my darndest to bring tenderloins instead. VETOED!
So this year, I changed it up a little bit and decided to make BBQ chicken “wings” instead.
By using tenderloins instead of wings you save on a TON of fat. The skin on the wings is where most of the fat comes from. By using the tenderloins from skinless chicken breasts you get high protein, low-fat, tasty BBQ chicken!
And as you know by now, I am not one for going and buying sauces and things you can easily make at home from scratch. Plus, by making my own Skinny BBQ Sauce, I was also able to cut back on over half of the sugar that traditional store-bought sauce has…AND no High-Fructose Corn Syrup! Only natural raw honey and molasses!
This sauce is so simple and only takes an hour or so to make (with VERY minimal work!…just a few stirs every once in a while.) In fact, I made a big double batch and froze a whole bunch to last me the next 3 months or so! *I recommend doing this as well…you’ll want extra on hand, I promise! ๐
Once your sauce is made, these tenderloins only take about 10 minutes to cook up. That’s the beauty of tenderloins…just throw them in a skillet and cook for a few minutes on each side, and done!
Because I made my sauce a week or so ago, I just warmed up the sauce for about 45 seconds on 50% power and brushed these tasty little devils up!
If you bring these to your Super Bowl Party I promise, no one will miss the wings! These are so much easier to gobble up without having to naw around some bones!
