BEST Turkey Burger Recipe

The BEST Turkey Burgers!

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

For the Burgers

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Ezekiel or Whole Wheat Buns
  • lettuce
  • tomatoes
  • guacamole
  • sharp cheddar cheese
  • ketchup + mustard
  • any other toppings of your choice

To Assemble the Patties:

In a large bowl, gently mix burger ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to play with the meat too much or your burgers will be tough!

Divide mixture into 4 equal sizes and gently form into patties.

Cooking on the Grill

Preheat grill to high (or about 400°F) and clean your grill grates. To grease the grill, lightly drizzle a paper towel with olive oil or avocado oil, and using tongs carefully rub over the grates until coated with oil. Place the turkey burgers in the grill and cook for 5 minutes, uncovered. Flip the patties, cover and cook and additional 4-5 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Cooking on the Stove

Heat a large, ovenproof skillet over medium heat and preheat oven to 350°F. Drizzle avocado oil to the pan and allow to heat for 30 seconds to a minute. Add the burgers and don’t move them until the bottom side of each is browned and crusted, about 3 to 4 minutes. Flip the burgers and cook 3 more minutes, then transfer the skillet to the oven. Cook in the oven for another 7-9 minutes, or until internal temperature reached 165°F.

Cooking in the Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F, and drizzle a baking sheet with avocado oil. Place your burgers on the prepared baking sheet and pop it in the oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F. **You can optionally, sear the burgers for 1-2 minutes per side in a medium-high heated skillet to quickly brown each side.

Cooking in the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 360°F for about 3 minutes. Place your burgers in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap or touch. Cook for about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Assemble your burger with the toppings your desire, and enjoy!
